MARIAM SHARIF
So, here's the story from A to Z. My second year of MBA was my last opportunity to study abroad and I took it, for one shouldn’t vegetate in a comfort zone his whole university years. FDU was my first choice and I spent there the fall semester, from late August to December. Getting there is not easy, but stressful and frustrating instead. It requires an English certification and a heavy load of paperwork, but it is worth it. No doubt. To the very last bit and in every single dimension.
There, I took three marketing and two finance classes. Most of them where tough and required hard work, but -at the end of the day- my knowledge has been deeply enhanced. For example, I know how to use a Bloomberg terminal now. Plus, I got the chance to work on campus as a finance tutor and at the Dean of Students Office with inspiring colleagues.
I also learned to move around New York City alone, I made an appearance in a movie –well, only a short amateur film, but still-, I travelled to Washington D.C. and Philadelphia, attended conventions, met Super Bowl winners, golfed and celebrated Thanksgiving with an American family. Most of the fun was provided by Campus Life. I don’t want to spoil the surprise, but be ready for the best trips, the best events and games; everything above and beyond your wildest dreams!
Mostly, it has been about the people, the humans of FDU: professors, roommates, international students, classmates, public safety officers, from the dean to the janitor. They are a kaleidoscope of personalities and stories; and they all have something to give you. They make FDU a place where everything is better and comforting. Fairleigh Dickinson is the home I will never go back to, but these are the friends I will meet again, some day.
