Hey everybody! My name is Eva. I am currently studying for a Master’s degree in “Modern Languages for International Communication and Cooperation”, and last Fall semester, from August to December 2014,  I had the possibility to study at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison (NJ).

I really consider it as a wonderful experience that I will never forget and I am glad I could grab such an unique occasion. During this period, I attended classes along with American students, where I had the great opportunity to compare myself and my knowledge with people having different ideas and coming from different places. Meanwhile, I was able to improve my English and develop my personal skills in different fields. One of the classes I took at FDU was American literature, which especially dealt with the concept of the American dream: it was so interesting to learn the American perspective about such a popular topic through the reading of some American books and movies, which gave rise to passionate discussions in class.

Living on campus allowed me to experience to the full a school environment so different from the one I was used in Italy. It has not to be hidden that studying abroad can sometimes be a little hard, but despite that, I really believe that the educational outcomes and the personal satisfactions you can obtain are absolutely worthwhile!

Of course, beyond the school commitment, I also enjoyed my free time there. Life on campus and outside the university offered me the opportunity to meet a lot of wonderful people, not only Americans but also international students like me, with whom I had a great time. FDU often organizes different kinds of activities, such as watching sport games or going to the bowling. Manhattan is just one hour by train from the university and nobody can get bored in New York City (at least, I didn’t!). In a few words, there is a lot to do there and one semester might pass too quickly as it happened to me. If someone asked me to leave again and spend other time at FDU, believe me, I would accept it without any doubt!
